In many instances homework is assigned to reinforce lessons taught at school or to finish work not completed during class time. It is the student’s responsibility to determine what homework has been assigned and to complete such assignments accurately and in time for the next class.

Parents can assist by monitoring homework assignments on a regular basis and by taking an active interest in the student’s work. As a general rule, junior high students should be doing three to five hours of homework each week.
